Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using parkingpermitcosts.co.uk (the "Website" or "Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.

Service Description

Parking Permit Costs is a web application that helps residents estimate parking permit costs from a postcode and vehicle details. It covers a published set of UK councils only. It does not provide UK-wide coverage.

The live priced estate is these 32 published councils: Westminster, Glasgow, Camden, Edinburgh, Hackney, Bristol, Islington, Lambeth, Waltham Forest, Kingston upon Thames, Wandsworth, Brent, Croydon, Southwark, Hammersmith and Fulham, Newham, Chorley, Fylde, Pendle, Ribble Valley, South Ribble, West Lancashire, Merton, Royal Greenwich, Redbridge, Sutton, Bromley, Richmond upon Thames, Plymouth City, Portsmouth City, Torbay, and Havering. Harrow and Hounslow are not priced on this Service.

The Service provides:

Postcode to council lookup for the published estate
Parking permit cost calculations where a published council tariff is modelled (often using vehicle CO₂ emissions and fuel type)
Optional vehicle registration mark (VRM) lookup via the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service API
Information about parking permit costs for the published councils listed above

If you provide a VRM, your browser sends it to our site (POST /api/vrm), which forwards it to the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service API for that request. We do not store or cache the full VRM. Diagnostic logs, if written, use a masked registration (for example AB***DE). Lookups are rate-limited by IP.

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be available at all times or free from errors.

User Responsibilities

When using the Service, you are responsible for:

Accurate Information: Providing accurate and complete information, including postcodes, vehicle registration marks (VRM), CO₂ emissions, and fuel type.
Verification: Verifying parking permit costs with your local council before applying. The Service provides estimates for guidance purposes only and does not guarantee accuracy.

Third-Party Content

This Service uses third-party content under various licences:

ONS Postcode Directory (ONSPD): Open Government Licence v3.0 (Crown copyright). That grant covers postcode-to-authority mapping only. It is not a licence for council tariff tables.
Council tariff pages: Permit prices are taken from official council pages. That is not a blanket Open Government Licence grant for those tables. Restricted and unresolved councils are not OGL. See licence attributions for the live reuse record for each published council.
DVLA API Data: Subject to DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service API Terms and Conditions

All third-party content is attributed according to the respective licence requirements. See our Disclaimer page for more information about data sources and licensing.

License Compliance

Users of this Service must comply with:

Open Government Licence v3.0 requirements for ONSPD postcode mapping (and for any council table that the live reuse record treats as OGL)
Council-specific licence requirements recorded on licence attributions (restricted and unresolved councils are not OGL)
DVLA API terms of service (for VRM lookup data)
