About Parking Permit Costs

What we publish

We track resident parking permit data for 230 UK local authorities. 43 councils are live on the site today because they meet our publish bar: an official source URL, verified tariff cells, and honest dating (a printed effective date on the source, or a labelled last_checked date where no printed tariff calendar exists). The remaining 187 sit in HOLD — we may have cells on disk, but we do not publish incomplete provenance.

Rankings and research reports only include councils that clear that bar. Absence from a table is a coverage gap, not a price judgment.

How we verify prices

Our full verification rules — official sources only, the first-permit 12-month comparable, cell evidence on new lifts, fingerprint drift checks, and deliberate omissions — are in the how we verify parking permit prices guide.

We do not claim to manually re-read every council site on a fixed monthly calendar. Freshness comes from catalog lastVerified bumps when tariffs change, scheduled source fingerprint checks, and targeted updates when drift or reader reports flag a mismatch.

Research

Cross-council tables and the UK parking permit research hub use the same publishable estate as our rankings — first-permit 12-month official table cells only, with coverage limits stated on each report.

Advertising and affiliates

This site earns commission through Awin. Some council pages include a YourParkingSpace affiliate offer after the tariff table, marked with an Ad label next to the heading and the line Affiliate link: we may earn a commission underneath. Those links use rel="sponsored noopener". Affiliate relationships do not change council permit prices or calculator totals. Google AdSense display ads are prepared on some templates but are not live. Cookies, the consent banner, and the full labelling rules are on our advertising and affiliates page.

Editorial standards and corrections

We correct published tariff cells when an official source changes or when a reader shows our stored quote no longer matches the council page. We do not silently “fix” HOLD councils into publishable status without the printed or instrument dating our schema requires. When we cannot model an axis (EV band, OTC counter price, unsupported duration), we mark omitted_axes on the council page instead of guessing.
